JOB SUMMARY: The EHS Specialist is responsible aiding the overall Plant employee safety and environmental aspects. Primary focus will include environmental training and tracking, policy adherence, working with key process stakeholders, audit and incident follow-up tracking and trending. The EHS Specialist position is also responsible for Plant Sustainable Development and active participation in sustainability committee. This position is a key member of the EHS Team focused on manufacturing’s key performance measures of Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following; other duties may be assigned. Ability to input data using computers and related software – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Intelex, Alchemy, Teams, Sharepoint, SAP, Brady360, MSDSOnline. Logistics and monitoring of the recycling waste streams to achieve the goal of 100% landfill diversion rate and 0% Hazardous Waste for the site Complete Weekly, Monthly, and Annual Environmental and Safety Inspections such as SPCC, SWPPP, Hazardous waste, Universal Waste, Spill Containment, Fire Extinguisher, Eyewash, Ladders, and Fall Protection Manage and track site wastewater permit compliance activities Perform EHS Management system checks and compliance inspections for programs such as: LOTO, PIT, Fall Protection, PPE, etc. Ability to schedule and facilitate training classes Document and Organize within Conagra EHS Management System that items are submitted and completed in a timely manner. Participate in continuous improvement activities to assist site in achieving critical business need goals QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Passion towards driving continuous improvement in the areas of and Safety and Environmental. Solid, current understanding of Federal and State EPA/OSHA and compliance requirements and enforcement processes. Demonstrated ability to develop and direct pro-active EHS programs. EDUCATION: BS/BA with a preference for Environment, Health & Safety or related discipline, required. EXPERIENCE A minimum of 3-5 years of increasing safety experience in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment, required. Knowledge and practical application of risk-management techniques. Experience working with a diverse group of people. Professional experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferred. SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES: Demonstrate self-motivation and a commitment to results. Strong computer skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Ability to use innovative approaches and analytical problem-solving skills to resolve complex problems. Strong organizational, interpersonal and team building skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple and complex projects concurrently. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a matrix organization. Ability to analyze data and information, and to make effective and timely decisions. Ability to work individually as well as with others as a team at all levels To perform daily walkthrough of assigned areas to assist Team Members and provide safety/environmental guidance and leadership. To assist with all incident investigations and corrective action development and completion.
