Enjoy analyzing environmental samples (air, water, soil, solid waste, biological tissue, etc.) in support of environmental protection and to safeguard human health? ICF is looking for an Environmental Chemist to join our team in our new lab facility in Corvallis, Oregon! If successful, you will support an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)- funded program along with a team of experts. As a member of the team, you will provide technical and quality assurance (QA) support to EPA programming as well as performs soil, water, air, waste, and tissue sample analysis for chemical contaminants. What you will do: Support the identification, assessment, remediation, and regulation of environmental hazards. Perform sample preparation and analysis in compliance with EPA methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in one or more of the following areas: Volatile organic compounds (VOC) in water, solid or air matrices using GC or GC/MS Semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC) in water, solid or air matrices using GC or GC/MS Emerging contaminants such as PFAS using UPLC TQ/MS Metals using ICP/OES or ICP/MS Perform analyses in compliance with all technical, Quality Assurance, and Health, Safety and Environmental Management requirements What you must have: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physical science, or environmental science 4 years of laboratory experience including at least 3 years of experience performing preparation and analysis of environmental samples according to EPA methods Proficiency with analytical data acquisition, processing, review and reporting via instrument software and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) Experience in a NELAC, A2LA, ISO17025 or equivalently accredited laboratory Must be authorized to work in the United States Must be able to pass an EPA background check to obtain access to U.S. federal property What we would love for you to have: Experience using GCMS in full scan and SIM modes with EPA Method TO-15 or EPA Method TO-17 or equivalents Experience with sample preparation and analysis for per- and poly- fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) including quantitation using isotope dilution with solid phase extraction and LCMS Hands-on experience with solid phase extraction (SPE) or microextraction methods Proficiency with Promium Element LIMS Working at ICF Working at ICF means applying a passion for meaningful work with intellectual rigor to help solve the leading issues of our day.
