Overview The Client Services Representative works under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager. The Client Services Representative is responsible for Laboratory outreach and functions as a laboratory communicator providing physicians and other healthcare providers with patient test results to assist in diagnosis and treatment. The Client Services Representative answers inquires regarding the following: Laboratory results on patient specimens; status of testing procedures on specific clinical specimens; normal ranges for laboratory test; proper procedures for ordering tests in the LIS and HIS systems; proper specimen collection and transport for tests that cannot be performed in-house and must be sent to a reference laboratory; problems with specimens or problems with test performance by the laboratory; liaison between courier service, laboratory and materials management; compiles and maintains Outreach client supplies and utilization data; assists in maintaining client database; contacts Outreach clients as needed discussing services, determining and supplying specimen collection needs and addressing laboratory testing changes. The Client Services Representative keeps accurate documentation for all phone calls where messages must be taken and provided to other laboratory personnel. The Client Services Representative correctly and in a timely manner faxes or prints and delivers patient reports to internal and external customers and maintains proper files. The position consistently utilizes excellent written and verbal communication skills and uses a positive approach to client service management. The Client Services Representative sets an example for others with regard to telephone etiquette, client assistance and guest relations with both internal and external customers. The Client Services Representative adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures; maintains a professional demeanor and exhibits a positive attitude. May perform other duties as assigned. What you will do Performance of job duties completed accurately to ensure quality patient care and accurate billing practices. Responsible for ensuring department is maintaining accreditation from College of American Pathologist (CAP), DNV and other accrediting agency standards (as required) within the department. Qualifications Education Associates Degree, (Preferred) Experience 1-3 years Related experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
