Purpose and Scope: Leading the manufacturing engineering teams in the development, and implementation of new automation, machining and assembly cells as well as the continuous improvement and problem root cause resolution of current operating cells from the perspective of process capability, process control and process productivity/rate. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In conjunction with Operations, and the Facilities management, required to implement new production automation, machining and assembly cells and equipment projects which ensure long term customer satisfaction through product quality, employee health, safety and welfare, and business economic success includes all aspects of project management functions including project plans, resource coordination (both internal and external), procurement, installation and facilitation of equipment and ancillary hardware, and equipment commissioning Full supervisory responsibility for direct reports in the department, relative to departmental and company policies Drive internal customer satisfaction in launch support and CI initiatives Lead and coach other team members in order to complete the goals of these manufacturing projects Capital acquisition and implementation including vendor selection and management Implementation and documentation of Automotive Operating Systems including APQP, PPAP, and QOS as per IATF 16949/ISO9001 Standards as they relate to Process Development Implementation of and assisting tool designers with CAD based machine, tool and fixture design Debugging, Run-off, and implementation of cell based manufacturing equipment, in conjunction with process technicians and quality engineering Assisting quality Engineering with PPAP development Completion of Run at Rate Process Performance Testing in conjunction with manufacturing operations Communication and process support with Stackpole International FPS facilities related to process & equipment selection based on capabilities and tolerances. Communication and support with Stackpole International facilities related to tooling performance and cost reduction opportunities Develop and implement goals in conjunction with the development of manufacturing projects for new business growth Responsible for continuous improvement of day to day aspects of manufacturing Engineering related issue resolution and corrective action development Design responsibility for production processes, assembly machine selection and fixtures development Work in compliance with Stackpole International FPS Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Production Operating System Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives Perform other related duties as required Qualifications, Education And / or Experience: An undergraduate degree or diploma in mechanical or controls engineering, preferably with technical certification or appropriate combination of education and relevant work experience 5-10 years plus of experience in the hands on process development of automated assembly operations and/or machining/grinding processes Excellent communications, conflict management, negotiating and problem solving skills Knowledge base in problem solving methods, automated error proofing, preferably PLC’s, robotics, vision systems, AGV’s, AVI’s, automated handling systems and an understanding of programmable logic.
