Department Overview The ASTRO Software team specializes in the development of world class digital two-way radios for the mission critical market. Our APX Family of radios are a lifeline to our public safety customers - firefighters, police officers, and other first responders. Job Description We’re looking for Software Engineers with an interest in embedded systems to help expand our team and deliver the next generation of communication devices to our customers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Work in an Agile/Scrum team to design, implement, and test new features Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within quality assurance, time and cost constraints. Perform design documentation and coding activities, employing existing mature software development processes in the organization. Create and execute unit, integration, system, load and acceptance tests. Use software system testing procedures Contribute to the improvement of existing mature software development processes. Develop intellectual property. Inter-group and intra-group teamwork in a multi-site world-wide development environment Participation in peer reviews Finding, tracking, and repairing defects Preferred Skills: 2 years of software development/testing experience. Proficiency in C Experience in real-time embedded software design Experience with Linux Experience in communications protocols (USB, TCP/IP, BT, LTE, WiFi) is a plus Experience in Test Driven Development Experience with the use of test equipment such as logic analyzers, serial data analyzers, oscilloscopes etc.) is a plus Experience with embedded development/debug tools (such as emulators/JTAG, etc.) is a plus Additional Qualified Skills A drive towards automating repetitive tasks Willingness to learn and apply new technologies through self-learning Ability to work independently but also be a team player #LI-RH2 Basic Requirements Master's Degree required; major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, or related field Or Bachelor's Degree; major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, or related field 3 years of experience. Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident or be an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for masters-level students).
