Company: Compass Connections Program: Shelter Location: Onsite Position title: Training Specialist - Bilingual Academic Req: Required – Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or social services; Preferred - Master’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services, or social services fields Certifications: First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention Work experience: Required – with master's degree - At least three (3) years of progressive employment experience in these fields that demonstrate supervisory and case management experience OR with bachelor’s degree – at least five (5) years of progressive employment experience in these fields that demonstrate supervisory and case management experience; Preferred - Child welfare and experience in working with immigrant populations Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables: Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position. Provide relevant training that meets agency, licensing and contract requirements and the individual needs of each staff. Consistently provide and update training for Office of Refugee Resettlement care facilities, community services and other stakeholders. Develop, maintain, and distribute a staff training calendar that provides staff numerous opportunities for development including evening and overnight shifts. Maintain a staff training database that provides monthly and quarterly reports related to training and the impact of training on program practices and outcomes. Maintain program personnel files, training records and training certifications. Develop professional relationships with other peers in the field, including private agencies and supporting agencies. Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols in case of an emergency. Participate in scheduled meetings and team decisions and operations. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times. Other Responsibilities: Establish and implement a training strategy and goals for the post release and home study programs. Develop and continually update program training manuals and materials. Frequently travel from one location to another inclusive of distances greater than 50 miles from home office. Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish. Requirements: Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks. Demonstrate the ability to: Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals. Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment. Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
