The Opportunity:

YSM is seeking a full-time Assistant Store Manager for a twelve month contract with a possibility of extension. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for training, supervising and coaching their assigned team members with a focus on excellent customer service and revenue growth at our Double Take Thrift Store. This position will appeal to a candidate who is passionate about social change and community empowerment in line with YSM’s values, and eager to lead a diverse team in growing Double Take’s impact on the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit

Responsibilities:

• Leading sales team in daily retail activities, with a focus on fostering teamwork
• Modeling excellent customer service consistently in all interactions and mentoring the team in the practice of ensuring donor and customer satisfaction
• Helping recruit, select, develop, evaluate and coach employees
• Creating schedules for sales staff based on availability and store needs
• De-escalating difficult customer situations with empathy while considering the safety of staff and customer
• Assisting in maintaining store appearance, ensuring a clean, attractive look and excellent shopping experience
• Opening and closing store, regular banking and cash handling activities
• In the absence of the manager assuming full responsibility for the day to day operations
• Upholding safety standards through regular inspections and implementing corrective actions
• Completing administrative tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education combined with
• Solid computer skills (ability to work in Excel & Google Docs)
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Supervisory experience in cash handling
• Familiarity with clothing, accessory, furniture, housewares brands
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Experience or interest in Shopify platform
• Understanding and experience working with people from diverse populations, including various cultures, religions, those with varying abilities, mental health challenges, etc.
• Demonstrated personal commitment to YSM’s principles of faith, mission and values
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; a police check will be required
