Job Posting for Forklift Operator/Yard Hand at Western Archrib
Western Archrib is currently looking to fill a Dayshift Forklift/Yard hand position at our Edmonton east facility. Our high-volume wood manufacturing plant manufactures a full range of custom glue-laminated structural wood beams. Experience working with long loads in a lumber mill or lumber yard will be considered an asset to this position.
Duties: Will include but not limited to: Forklift operations and Outdoor Yard Responsibilities:
Loading trailers with manufactured wood beams and stock materials of various shapes and sizes using counterbalance forklift
Loading/offloading lumber stacks of various sizes to production areas
Taking physical inventory of yard material and attention to detail of lumber sizes and grades, marking material with Job #s for customer identification
Yard management of all wood beams and hardware and ability to coordinate loads and yard shipments as scheduled with the Shipper/Receiver
Marking and spacing of cross pieces on trailers before loading
Offloading totes and pallets of hazardous materials
Communicate with Shipper/Receiver and other plant personnel through radio commands and documentation methods
Requirements:
Candidates must be physically fit, able to work in outdoor conditions all year round as required, and able to lift to 50lbs consistently.
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to work 8hr shifts – 40hrs per week. (Some overtime may be required).
Must have exceptional communication and organizational skills
Standard CSA approved Steel toed boots are required, we will provide safety glasses, work gloves, and reflective vests.
Valid Counterbalance certification and experience is mandatory for this position.
WHMIS 2015 – Will train onsite.
First aid training is an asset to this position but not a requirement.
Work Schedule:
Standard work schedule will be Mon-Fri 7:30am-4pm.
Flexibility to work on weekends may be required based on shipping requirements
Work week will be subject to change depending on production and loading needs
Wages:
Wage will start at $24hr. Wages will be evaluated and increases with more training, competency, and progression with the company.

RRSP program with employer contribution after 1 year of service.
After 180 days of employment, workers will be eligible for sick days. A pre-rated number of days will be given based on the number of days left in the calendar year.
$200 Annual work boot allowance
Vacation pay accumulates each pay period. Accumulated vacation can be paid out at the request of the employee
