Job Summary

Reporting to the Support Services Manager the Housekeeping and Laundry Aides are responsible for housekeeping and laundry in a complex care/retirement community.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Provides personal laundry services for care residents in accordance with established work routines.

2. Ensures residents are provided with a secure living environment, patrols the building and investigates building access violations in accordance with established policies and procedures.

3. Supports the facility Safety Program and monitors safety in the living and working environment, responds to and reports hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents and unsafe or faulty equipment.

4. Follows Health authority laundry guidelines. 5. Demonstrates knowledge of fire/emergency procedures and policies of the facility; participates in fire and emergency drills.

6. Demonstrates knowledge and application of elder and staff safety. 7. All safety rules and safe work procedures are adhered to at all times. 8. Reports all hazards, incidents, near misses and workplace injuries to the manager immediately and in writing. 9. Does not participate in unsafe situations (horseplay) and corrects any unsafe conditions if able. 10. Actively participates in all Health and Safety initiatives and make suggestions to improve Workplace Health and Safety. 11. Adheres to Infection Control Practices

12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent.
  • Building Service Worker Certificate or related work experience.
  • Institutional cleaning experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Holds and Maintains Valid WHMIS Certificate.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Salary: $21.85-$23.38 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 37.5 per week
