Salary: $25.17 - $27.99 per hour (Start rate: $25.17 per hour in accordance with collective agreement requirements)

Shifts: 2 - 3 Shifts per week, Monday - Saturday
Status: Permanent Part Time

Position Summary

Toronto Western Family Health Team (TW FHT)'s program links with the surrounding community to provide primary care to families and community members, with special attention to the needs of the aging population, children and women. With the teamwork of physicians, nurse practitioners, primary care nurses, social workers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and chiropodists, we focus on supporting the a broad range of health of health concerns.

Duties

  • Answering, screening and triaging telephone calls
  • Receiving patients/visitors coming in for tests/procedures and/or appointments
  • Scheduling patients for tests, special procedures and/or urgent/emergency appointments
  • Following established procedures to ensure the efficient flow of patient/patient appointments
  • Providing routine clerical support services

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post secondary certificate up to 1 year in Office Administration, or recognized equivalent
  • General knowledge of office practices, process and procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Experience working in a health care environment an asset
  • Knowledge of a second language an asset
  • Six (6) months to 1 year experience using computer applications or health information system required, i.e., EPR, MS outlook, PHS
  • Must be able to read and understand sort notes, brief forms and/or instructions
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and/or divide
  • Knowledge of another language, an asset
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to handle difficult patients/situations
