Maintenance Person

Sabourin Lake Lodge is a family-owned fishing camp sitting on 21 acres, located 50 miles beyond the reach of any road on majestic Sabourin Lake, Ontario in Woodland Caribou Wilderness Park, 1 hour north of Kenora. The Lodge is accessible only by float plane.

We are hiring for our 2024 season, running now through September15th. We are seeking reliable and experienced Maintenance Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will be mature, dedicated, experienced, and personable.

This Maintenance position will report directly to the Lodge Manager, and will interact daily with the Sabourin Lake Lodge team. The Sabourin team works together to provide an exceptional experience for all guests young and old.

Duties Responsibilities

· Conduct preventive maintenance and keep all buildings in good repair

· General mechanical and plumbing repairs

· Small engines and outboard repairs

· Minor electrical repairs

· Minor maintenance and repairs on propane heaters and stoves

· Knowledge of off-grid water systems

· Some carpentry work

· Keep all site equipment stored properly, and basic inventory up to date

· Ensure the set up and regular maintenance of all site systems: bathroom sinks, toilets, and showers; heaters; generators and electrical outlets; incinerator, kitchen rages and heaters

Requirements Qualifications

· Ability to start immediately

· Relocating to Sabourin Lake Lodge (Spring-Fall) position based in The Woodland Caribou Provincial Park

· Comfortable with working/living remotely during the season

· Previous experience in the trades e.g. electrician, plumber, carpentry

· Must be safety and detail-oriented

· Ability to carry moderate-heavy loads, bend/kneel easily, and withstand being on your feet for the entirety of each shift

· Solid interpersonal skills

· Positive attitude and professional demeanor

· Ability to work independently with little supervision

· Ability to take initiative

· Team player

Location/Transportation

• Our lodge is located 50 miles beyond the reach of any road on majestic Sabourin Lake, Ontario in Woodland Caribou Wilderness Park, 1 hour north of Kenora. The Lodge is accessible only by float plane
• Staff will be provided transportation to the lodge at the beginning of the season and back when the season is over
• All staff will be required to arrange transportation to and from Adventure Air located at 52 Blueberry Rock Dr, Lac du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0, where the float plane will pick them up and drop them off at the start and end of the season.
• All staff are required to stay on site during the season May to mid September

Compensation Perks

• Starting wage is $24.00-$27.00 per hour
