Jackman Eye Institute is looking for a full-time Refractive Patient Educator in a busy office to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for our patients undergoing surgical eye treatments. The focus is for our patients to feel welcomed, be comfortable and feel confident while receiving high-quality, life-changing vision care.
This role is responsible for working with clients and patients that are interested in LASIK, refractive lens exchange (RLE), and cataract surgery. The refractive patient educator will provide patients and clients with education on the procedures that are available at Lens & Lasik and discuss vision options that are suitable for their needs.

What you will be doing:
- Providing education and information to potential surgical patients about available procedures. Discussing the risks, benefits, and alternatives. This includes LASIK, RLE, Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL), and Cataract Surgery.
- Developing customized treatment plans for patients based on their individual needs and goals.
- Working closely with the clinical team to ensure that patients receive high-quality care throughout the Refractive and/or Cataract surgery process.
- Following up with patients after the procedure to ensure they are satisfied with their results and that any issues are addressed promptly.
- Discussing the type of post-operative vision care plans offered, and the benefits associated with each procedure and scheduling.
- Explaining pre-operative consent forms and paperwork clearly and accurately
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Collecting medical and family history
- Reviewing history of presenting illness
- Reviewing necessary testing with patients
- Printing invoices and collecting payments
- Maintain tracking sheets and monthly statistical reports
- Receiving and processing approvals of surgery by medical directors
- Planning, organizing and scheduling patients for surgery
- Perform other duties as necessary to ensure success of the business.
What you will bring:
- 1-2 years' experience in a sales role or working in a one-on-one setting with clients is considered a key asset.
- Previous experience in working in a medical clinical environment is an asset.
- Experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or optical is an asset.
- Experience in customer service/client care role.
- Capable of multi-tasking and excellent sense of organization.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in a professional environment.
- Willingness to learn and driven by success.
