Supply Chain Technical Buyer

The Company

Founded in 1909, Nordstrong Equipment Limited is a company with a long history of providing bulk material handling equipment and solutions to agriculture and industrial customers. We are an industry leader in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of robust, high-performance bulk material handling solutions. In addition to our custom-designed product, we also design and manufacture a full line of hoisting equipment for truck dump body applications under the NORDIC trade name.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Estimating and Supply Chain, this is an excellent opportunity for the supply chain professional who is passionate about leadership, technology, and working with a team driven to provide industry-best in product value and service.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within a team to facilitate engineering changes, product line extensions, and new product launches, ensuring smooth material and production flow transitions.
  • Address inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding order status, shipping details, and inventory levels.
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Analyze current inventories and procedures to propose improvements for increased efficiency and profitability.
  • Utilize data and analytics to forecast demand and plan accordingly.
  • Coordinate shipments and track delivery schedules, resolving any discrepancies.
  • Cultivate relationships with vendors to ensure timely information on product availability, lead times, and pricing.
  • Assist in inventory management, including optimizing levels and participating in physical counts.
  • Coordinate logistics operations to minimize costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and monitor overall supply chain costs.
  • Resolve issues related to order fulfillment, shipping delays, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of supply chain activities and generate reports as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain department.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain.
  • Integrate technology solutions to enhance visibility and automation.
  • Provide administrative support to the Supply Chain Director as needed.to streamline process and improve accuracy and efficiency with operations.

The Person

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in a supply chain role.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems or relevant software.
  • Track record of meeting and exceeding targets.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with purchasing raw materials (steel) preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Understanding of Min/Max inventory methodology.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple processes.
  • Strong record-keeping skills.
