Position Summary:
We are a rapidly growing business and are currently adding to our team! This role will work with our team from our Calgary office and the ideal candidate will have a combination of education and experience, with a solution focused approach to health and safety management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update and review: HSE Manuals, Transportation Manuals, formal hazard assessments, policies, procedures, etc.
- Promote HSE within our clients’ organizations with a goal of continuous improvement of HSE culture.
- Develop and implement workflows for HSG internal processes as well as client processes
- Develop and implement effective preventative maintenance programs for our clients
- Assist with pre-project planning and execution for client major projects including developing project-specific HSE plans, project mobilization plans, project hazard assessments, security management plans, environmental management plans, etc.
- Build relationships across teams to enhance innovation and collaboration
- Setup and management of client WorkHub accounts
- Oversee client compliance to SECOR, COR, ISO and NSC standards
- Assist with SECOR, COR, ISO and NSC audit prep
- Manage HSE statistical reporting for clients
- Conduct Incident Investigations remotely and/or on-site for clients.
- Conduct worksite inspections, facility assessments, job observations, focused audits, etc.
- Facilitate monthly safety meetings, joint health and safety committee meetings, etc. for clients
- Conduct HAZOPs, Risk Assessments, etc. for new products, processes, equipment, etc.
- Monitoring client compliance on vendor management websites (ISNetworld, Complyworks, Avetta, etc.)
- Drafting client communications (monthly safety meetings, toolbox talks, safety bulletins, etc.)
- Pull and review carrier profiles, complete non-preventable collision evaluations, etc.
- Ensure client subcontractor pre-qualification and preferred vendor lists are maintained
- Assess and continuously improve the client onboarding and subcontractor management processes
- Assisting with the completion of RFP’s and bid packages for clients
- Coordinate and manage site/project HSE project files and deliverables
- WCB account management
- Regularly communicate with Project Management, Superintendents, etc. at our clients
- Coach workers on their HSE responsibilities
- Review and disseminate key vendor communications to the client’s workforce
- Rotating on call management of the Emergency and Incident Phone – this is a shared responsibility amongst the HSG team
- Contribute to special projects and other duties as assigned
Expectations
- Projects are managed in Asana (digital task management program) in a transparent and organized manner. Asana tasks are updated at minimum EOD each day.
- Clients have a five-star experience when interacting with you and the company.
- All interactions are screened and handled appropriately, reaching out to the Operations Manager as needed for decision-making.
- All inquiries on Asana and Email are answered by EOD each day. We value and prioritize timely communication both internally and externally.
- Must be able to accommodate client and site meeting times (both early and late) – variable throughout the month depending on client schedules.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the month for client meetings, site inspections, facility assessments, audits, etc. is required.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience in an HSE role. Experience within HSE across a diverse industry scope will be considered an asset.
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related education is considered an asset
- Certifications such as CRSP, CRST CHSC, NCSO or similar are highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of federal and provincial (AB, BC, SK) OH&S is required
- Working knowledge of federal and provincial transportation legislation is highly desirable
- Excellent working knowledge of and experience working with MS Office tools – specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Familiarity with task management programs such as Asana, Monday, MS Projects, etc. is considered an asset
- Ability to effectively manage concurrent projects and keep all stakeholders up to date
- Ability to learn software quickly
- Ability to manage and organize high volume communication (phone, email, chat, etc)
- Willing to work flexible hours when needed to meet client deadlines
- Experience in consulting sector is considered an asset
