Security Guard-Day Shift

We are currently looking to bring on board a reliable and responsible Security Guard to help monitor and maintain the safety of our premises, properties, and visitors to our campus.

Position Title: Security Guard-Day Shift
Department: Security
Reporting to: Shift Security Supervisors
Type of Employment: Part-Time
Rate of Pay: $18.75-$20.00
Hours of Work: Hours of work based on need, with an anticipated work schedule that can range up to 40 hours per week. Must be available to work shifts from 7:30 am – 7:30 pm, inclusive of weekend work.
Location: Toronto. This role requires an onsite presence.

Major Duties:

• Patrols property, secures buildings and takes appropriate action to resolve existing or potential security/ safety/ loss prevention problems.
• Completes their personal employee memo book, recording incidents and security activities while on shift. As directed, maintains log of security activities for insurance/ legal purposes when required.
• Investigates all disturbances on the property including – but not limited to – trespass, theft, fire/ intruder alarms, missing persons, and determines the necessary response. Writes and distributes reports as necessary to follow-up the situation.
• Provides first aid to visitors or staff when required.
• In the absence of the Shift DSO, performs duties of the DSO in an acting capacity, as assigned.
• Employs use of force techniques and strategies in accordance with training and company policy as required during shift.
• Performs other duties of similar nature or level.

Requirements:

• Prior experience in a Security Guard capacity
• Ontario drivers license with clean abstract.
• Valid emergency and/ or standard first aid/CPR certification.
• Valid certification of provincial standards for Use of Force (in handcuff and baton) desired.
• Strong report writing skills.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Harbourfront Centre recognizes its heightened duty to protect employees from the health and safety risks associated with COVID-19. As such, an offer of employment shall be conditional on proof of full COVID-19 vaccination with a vaccine series approved by Health Canada or the World Health Organization.

Working Conditions:

• May contain some hazardous and potentially dangerous situations related to apprehending suspects and/or securing Harbourfront Centre.
• Job involves working outside in varying weather conditions and some working in isolated areas.
• Job involves working in full uniform including neckties and carrying baton and handcuffs at all times during rotating shifts over seven days per week, 24 hours a day, including statutory holidays.
