Haois Singing & Music Theatre School is recruiting a Manager of Performing Arts Education experienced in singing, acting, and dance to join our team and build a performing arts community together.

Hiring position: Manager of Performing Arts Education
Position duration: Part-time; potentially Full time hours
Working Locations: In-person North York, Toronto, Markham, GTA.
Salary: $35 - $55 hourly, based on experience

Haois Singing & Music Theatre School is a performing arts school serving art lovers in North York, Markham, Ontario, and surrounding areas. Our team of arts educators leads performers of various ages through engaging programs built on performing arts fundamentals (singing, acting, and dancing) to help them build skills, including confidence, collaboration, public speaking, and much more.

Job Description:
Are you passionate about the performing arts? Do you have experience in leading and managing educational programs for children and young adults? If so, this position may be a great fit for you.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Design and execute lesson plans for interactive performance arts classes, ensuring they are age-appropriate and align with Haois’ goals and values.
  • Lead and direct end-of-term showcases to highlight student performances.
  • Utilize theatre technical skills, including lighting, sound, props to support various productions and classes.
  • Oversee daily administrative tasks, including scheduling, attendance, and communication with parents and staff.
  • Follow the direction of the leadership team and manage marketing and sales efforts to promote the school’s programs and events.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns from parents and students professionally and promptly.
  • Organize and manage events like music festivals, community performances, and other special projects.
  • Develop and implement programs with the leadership team to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement strategies for program growth and improvement.
  • Hire and onboard new teachers and staff as needed, leveraging your network within the Toronto arts community.
  • Manage and train part-time teachers and assistants, ensuring consistency and quality across all classes.
  • Ensure all programs and activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Work across different locations as needed (North York, Markham, and various public and private schools in the GTA). Potential for international projects.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working with children and young adults in an in-person setting.
  • Experienced in management and operation of an organization or groups.
  • Post-secondary education in music, theatre, dance, education, or arts.
  • Demonstrated experience in vocal music, acting, and dance.
  • Strong passion and expertise in vocal singing (classical, operatic, musical theatre, pop, jazz, R&B, etc.).
  • Ability to design and execute engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans.
  • Flexibly adjust teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Leadership and ownership over all lessons and programming.
  • Experience organizing and directing shows in a theatre setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with parents, students, and the leadership team.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Kindness, enthusiasm for education, and a passion for working with children and young adults.
  • Ability to drive and access to a vehicle.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification, and a current vulnerable sector check (or ability to obtain one).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
