Role Responsibilities

Alberta is the only jurisdiction in North America where public registry services are completely offered through a network of individually owned private agencies. There are more than 220 registry agent locations where Albertans can access registry services. These registry agent locations vary significantly in size, transactional volumes, and number of employees. Registry services include Motor Vehicles, Vital Statistics, Corporate Registrations, Land Titles, Personal Property Registrations, and Alberta Health. Providing consistent, high quality service to Albertans while ensuring personal information is safeguarded through a private registry delivery system is unique and complex.

Reporting to the Manager of Registries Program Standards & Assurance, the Registries Assurance Team Lead is responsible to:

  • Ensure the Registry Agent Network adheres to and complies with the Government of Alberta's relevant legislation, agreements and policies.
  • Coordinate and supervise a team of specialists by providing leadership and expert coaching to strive for employee excellence, development and retention.
  • Provide analytical and pertinent information to management and others on emerging or critical issues, by dealing with issues effectively, quickly and minimizing the need for political involvement.
  • Administer the assigned programs for the Motor Vehicles and Registries Administration Branch.
  • Take the lead on project initiatives affecting Registries Administration and the Registry Agent Network.
  • Take supervisory responsibilities for the staff in the Motor Vehicles and Registries Administration. They will be responsible for their assigned staff in the supervisory duties of coaching, time sheet review and performance contract development and reviews.


Reporting to the Manager of Registries Program Standards & Assurance, the Registries Performance & Accountability Team Lead is responsible to:

  • Lead the performance measurement of motor vehicles administration services delivered by the registry agents and other service providers to ensure compliance with established accountability framework and ultimately protect integrity of the system.
  • Ensure business processes, systems, and initiatives associated with the administration of registry programs are developed, implemented, evaluated, and continually enhanced to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and governance models.
  • Motor Vehicles data integrity and security is ensured through active leadership and participation in all phases of the systems life cycle, including the MOVES re-development and other systems Initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure efficient, effective and coordinated operations and outcomes.

Role Responsibilities Cont'd

Reporting to the Manager of Data Access and Contract Management, the Data Access and Contract Management Team Lead is responsible to:

  • Lead a team of specialists responsible for supporting operations as well as project/initiatives related to Motor Vehicles program
  • Lead and support staff with effective and efficient research, program development, User Acceptance Testing, mentorship, coaching, personal and professional development.
  • Lead and supervise a team of specialists who supports Motor Vehicles program, related strategic projects, including complex changes to existing , or development of new business applications.
  • Lead collaborative environments and partnership, which are critical in ensuring successful outcomes for Motor vehicles program.


The incumbent in all the above three roles are expected to have:

  • The ability to manage high volume of work with a small margin of error.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to change direction with little or no notice.
  • Team building and leadership, including effective team participation skills.

Qualifications

University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency:

  • A related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; or a minimum of eight (8) years of related experienc

  • Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Knowledge in the following area will be considered as asset:

  • Leadership experience in working with Registries.
  • Registries administration legislation, regulations, business processes, and procedures and training requirements.
  • Experience working with MOVES, ROADS. VISTAS and CORES.
  • Other applicable legislation, regulations, and ministerial orders, including the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Government Organization Act.
  • Project management skills or training.

Notes

There is one of each (Team Lead- Registries Assurance, Team Lead- Registry Performance & Accountability-Team Lead- Data Access and Contract Management) full-time position available, located in the Brownlee Building, Edmonton, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
