We are hiring an experienced Litigation Law Clerk/Assistant with 5 years of experience to join our Civil & Commercial Litigation practice. We are a small Bay Street law firm that specializes in condominiums, real estate, business and estates.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage Estate Administration files from start to finish;
  • Draft, serve and file all legal documents with various courts;
  • Manage and maintain all Mediation and Arbitration matters including preparation of material and the filing of documents;
  • Prepare/draft/review pleadings, motion records, briefs, Affidavits of Documents, productions;
  • Review transcripts and manage undertakings ;
  • Draft requisitions, confirmations and other court forms;
  • Prepare Bills of Costs;
  • Assist in trial preparation;
  • Opening and closing of files; timekeeping;
  • Handle daily administrative details;
  • Coordinate with court offices & scheduling court appearances, examinations and other appointments;
  • Communicate professionally with lawyers, clients, process servers and other third parties; and
  • Arranging Condo Owners’ Strategy Sessions

Skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of civil litigation experience
  • Possess Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma/Certificate from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word and Excel), Adobe Acrobat DC, PcLaw, ACL5, Caselines, Calendly
  • Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Stay current with all Regional Court/Small Claims Court/Estate Court, Condominium Authority Tribunal and Landlord Tenant procedures and practice directions
  • Being able to handle stressful situations and manage competing priorities is essential.
  • Must have the ability to work as an individual within a team, follow instructions with minimal supervision, take initiative as required, have a strong personal sense of responsibility and possess clear and developed communication abilities.
