About the Role:
Working in the Chemistry Laboratory at Ferrero Canada, the successful candidate will conduct chemistry analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished products to evaluate quality and ensure the safety of food products entering the marketplace.
Main Responsibilities:
Performs chemical analysis of raw ingredients, in-process and finished products to ensure quality, food safety and nutritional value.
Ensures that all analysis is carried out in compliance with Safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Group’s standard.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus and prepare solutions, reagents, and sample formulations.
Analyzes products for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content, and adherence to government and industry standards.
Taste test (organoleptic) raw materials, semi-finished and finished products as requested;
Ensure that chemistry results are verified and reported in excel and/or SAP format.
Provides technical support in the area of Chemistry to the Manufacturing and Technology departments, in order resolve problems in product in production.
Actively participate in all required analytical investigations
Participates in internal and external audits as required.
Acts as a subject matter expert and may assist in providing training for production staff (sampling, swabbing etc.)
Performs other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor, to support production
Who we are looking for:
Degree in Chemistry, food science or related technical field
1-3 years industry experience working in a laboratory within the food processing or similar industry
Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
Working knowledge of lab equipment such as GC and HPLC
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
GMP/GLP’s and HACCP, etc.
Computer proficiency with MS Office programs
Experience with SAP would be an asset
Must be available for shift work and weekend shifts.
