Independent Contractor Position

Clarity Counselling Services (CCS) is a private therapeutic practice serving clients across Ontario, remotely through phone or video sessions, with headquarters in Timmins, ON, and we are expanding with an in-person office in Ottawa, ON. If you are a Registered Psychotherapist or Social Worker then we are looking for you! CCS offers counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups presenting with a range of goals and concerns related to mental health.

Our therapists draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to assist, empower, and resource our clients. We help clients gain insight into their thoughts, feelings, behaviors and patterns, as well as provide psychoeducation and strategies for change. Our therapists use a collaborative and warm approach with clients in working towards therapeutic goals and tailor treatment to client needs; we openly invite client feedback on the therapeutic alliance and process to meet our clients’ needs.

The candidate will possess:

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in Social Work
  • Registration with appropriate Ontario Regulatory College
  • Professional Liability Insurance upon start-date
  • External Clinical Supervision as needed
  • 2 years of experience in providing psychotherapy
  • Training in one or more therapeutic modalities (eg. CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused, EFT, a trauma-specific therapy, etc.)


Experience and/or education in any of the following specializations are strongly considered an asset:

  • Perinatal mental health, disordered eating, addiction, trauma-informed and trauma-specific practice, serving Indigenous populations, LGBTQ2A , children, and adolescents


Successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Teams skills
  • Ability to work well independently (self-motivated, organized) as well as part of a team (working collaboratively and professionally, upholding policies and practices of CCS)
  • Proficiency in assessment, therapeutic interventions, and building safe, respectful, empathetic and trusting therapeutic alliances
  • Ability to assess risk, and understand reporting obligations, and understanding of relevant legislation
  • Ability to tailor interventions to clients’ specific needs, goals and strengths
  • Dedication to continued professional development
  • Strong level of self-awareness and use-of-self safely, effectively, and informatively in session
  • Openness to learning, collaboration, and growth
  • Comfortability with offering sessions via phone, video, or local walk-and-talk
  • Demonstrate cultural awareness and humility, working from an anti-oppressive and non-discriminatory framework
  • Availability for evenings and weekends is an asset
