As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for the oversight and management of content for Planning and Development Service's (PDS) website, known as Robo. The website is the PDS knowledge base for policies, procedures, training and supporting documents, and is accessed by PDS employees and non-PDS employees. This position also leads or participate on projects focused on continuous improvements to support PDS's customer centric business processes. Primary duties include:
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the online knowledge base (Robo) for PDS and non-PDS users.
  • Write, edit, and maintain content on Robo including re-writing technical information into more user-friendly language, creating new web pages, implementing changes identified as a result of usability testing and ensuring the web pages meet corporate standards.
  • Lead or participate on projects that improve customer centric business processes by providing expertise on functionality enhancements, writing project charters, determining project deliverables, planning for and managing resources and budget and monitoring progress.
  • Provide support and guidance for PDS employees to manage day-to-day trouble shooting, functionality enhancements and content additions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all content is accurate, up to date, concise and uses plain language; notify all impacted internal and external partners of changes.
  • Ensure FOIP guidelines are followed when publishing information and respond to FOIP inquiries, if required.
Qualifications
  • A High School diploma or equivalency (For example: GED), completion of a blueprint reading course under a recognized architecture or planning certificate.
  • At least 5 years of related experience that includes 2 years of technical writing and 1 year of web editing.
  • Experience with writing or editing content for Robo will be considered an asset.
  • Technical writing experience will also be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires effective communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, along with a strong attention to detail while managing a heavy workload and changing priorities.
  • The ability to make decisions and to collaboratively create and implement continuous improvement objectives and demonstrating a customer service focus.

Compensation: Pay Grade 9 $38.92 - 52.07 per hour
(2024 Rates)
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
