As a Criminal Record Information Coordinator in the Investigative Support Section, you will liaise with individual members & units within the Calgary Police Service (CPS), other law enforcement agencies and all levels of courts to ensure the accurate reporting of court adjudications of federal charges onto the criminal records. Acting under the authority of the Identification of Criminals Act and Criminal Records Act. Primary duties include:

  • Accessing Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) to track federal charges through court proceedings and update information management systems.
  • Submit final dispositions linked to appropriate fingerprint submissions through CJIM (Criminal Justice Online Management) to the National Fingerprint Repository.
  • Prepare and issue Warrant Applications for accused persons who failed to appear for fingerprinting, updating Sentry and notifying the member in charge of the investigation.
  • Manage and respond to incoming email and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) regarding enquiries or request for assistance from CPS members or business units; Crown Prosecutor, Waiver or Appeal courts or other law enforcement agencies regarding anything related to criminal fingerprinting, criminal records, additional charges to be laid, etc.
  • Process and evaluate requests from individuals and/or law firms relating to destruction of identification files for non-conviction dispositions; authorize or deny requests based on legislated and internal policy.
Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g., GED).
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience including criminal disposition reporting and knowledge of the Criminal Code, Identification of Criminals Act and Criminal Records Act.
  • Experience with Justice Online Information Network (JOIN), Sentry, Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), ORCA (Offender Records and Correctional Administration).
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience with Criminal Justice Information Management (CJIM) will be considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in a law enforcement or court environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, support and foster relationships for team building and teamwork, requires high attention to detail; and ability remain calm in stressful situations.
Working Conditions: This position deals with emotionally troubling information/situations.

Pre-employment Requirements
  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 5 $29.41- 39.30 per hour
Days of Work: This position works Monday - Friday

Hours of work: On-call hour will vary based
on operational need. No guaranteed number of hours.
