Research Assistant – Post Secondary
(Full-time Contract from June 3, 2024 to July 26, 2024)
Please Note: CCS has submitted a funding proposal for summer student hiring. We are currently recruiting to build our applicant pool for positions we intend to hire. Our ability to hire for this position is conditional upon us securing approval for the funding. Shortlisted candidates with be contacted in April for interviews.
Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS) is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status.

We are currently accepting applications for summer students interested in working as a Research Assistant – Post Secondary.
What you'll get to do:
Research and identify the data-related capacity-building needs and interests that exist among community-based organizations that serve newcomers in Scarborough.
Support in the planning and implementation of data-related capacity-building workshops for service providers.
Support in writing Scarborough Newcomer Needs & Trends Research Reports and other project documentation.
Use Microsoft Office, and other relevant software/applications, in creating supplementary materials for workshops and events (e.g. flyers, presentations, questionnaires, etc.)Actively participate in ongoing team meetings and discussions.
What you need to know/have:
Completed or working towards post-secondary education in the social sciences or social work
Ability to work in a hybrid environment
Comfort using Microsoft Office, Zoom, Event Brite, Survey Monkey and Canva (knowledge and experience using other software/applications is welcomed)
Passionate about enhancing newcomer services on a community level through the use of research and data
Previous experience planning and coordinating events, both in-person and virtually
Knowledge of, or interested in learning about, the research/data needs, gaps and challenges that exist within the non-profit sector
Location: Scarborough, ON
Hours: 35 per week, occasional weekends and evenings may be required.
Compensation: $16.55 per hour
