Summary:
The Merchandiser is responsible for executing the layout and display set-up as set out by the department supervisor and the Assistant Store Manager with the intent to stimulate and encourage increased sales.
Job Duties:
Execute the merchandising plan as set out by the department supervisor.
Collaborate with the department supervisor(s) on solutions that address overall design, and layout of content.
Merchandisers will be responsible for the execution of all displays and hard goods visual merchandising, including coordination of the outdoor leisure displays.
Provide outstanding, welcoming customer service.
Responsible for general upkeep of the department, including light cleaning and housekeeping duties.
Work in conjunction with the Retail Design Manager and other Merchandisers to ensure team cohesiveness.
Ability and willingness to share and accept ideas and opportunities for improvement.
Assist in the processing of home decor from the warehouse to the retail floor as per company policy (i.e., scanning, pricing etc.).
Assist customers with their inquiries if needed.
Rotate/freshen existing displays and end caps for continual merchandising.
Create displays to correspond with themes, seasons, holidays, special events, weekly features, etc. as directed.
Assist with inventory management (overstock, shortages, damages, slow movers, markdowns, Ad items).
Ensure furniture and other display items are properly signed.
Stay informed of existing and emerging trends.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
Well versed in the latest design/merchandising methods, practices, techniques, and associated principles.
Strong knowledge of display layouts.
Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem solving.
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills required to communicate with a broad range of content owners.
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback from superiors.
Effective deadline management and project management skills.
Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements.
Potential to train and orientate others.
Working Conditions
Ability to physically lift up to 60 lbs.
Manual dexterity is required for the building of displays and peripherals
