Annual salary: $1,792.24 - $2,257.45 biweekly

What you'll do

This position will be based in Edmonds - Burnaby, BC

As our Survey Services Co-op student, you will:

  • Assist with a variety of tasks in the field and office that relate directly to the delivery of legal and engineering survey
services and products.

  • Be exposed to a variety of survey types, tools and processes to support our work

  • Learn about the power system in BC and how the Survey Services team supports the design, construction, operation and
maintenance of that system

  • Learn about other divisions and initiatives at BC Hydro.

  • Take advantage of the opportunity to explore future career options.

  • Participate in high value project work and gain valuable insight into the organization and implementation of large capital
projects.

  • Gain exposure to the exciting and increasingly growing hydro electric industry.

What you bring

  • To qualify as a candidate, individuals must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Canada in Geomatics or a
related field and have:

  • Knowledge of and some experience with typical survey field instruments (e.g. Total Stations, GNSS receivers, 3D Laser
scanners, RPAS, LIDAR, etc.)

  • Knowledge of and some experience with typical survey related office software (e.g. Civil3D/AutoCAD, Starnet,
Microsurvey, Infinity etc.)

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

  • Strong communication skills, highly motivated and results oriented.
  • A strong desire to learn and build your survey skillset

  • A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain your Class 5 Driver's License In good standing.

What else you should know:

  • As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required.

  • Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing will
be
required as a pre-condition to employment.

  • All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, a modified work term is available to
accommodate non standard school term schedules

  • Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate
themselves if necessary.

  • This position will be a resident position - Works at the office at least four days per week.

  • This position will require travel and overnight stays throughout the Co-op term. Typically all travel is Monday to Friday only
but some weekend work may be required.

  • This position will require work related travel by helicopter
