Compensation: Starts at $750/Weekly

As Head Instructor, you will be responsible for providing the lead instruction in the March Break program as well as overseeing the work of other instructors in order to ensure a safe, productive and enjoyable experience for all campers.


Camps at Appleby College provide co-educational opportunities to develop advanced skills and promote interactive skills among participants. Each Appleby camp has the use of superb facilities and offers access to excellent instruction. Our programs emphasize individual development, participation, co-operation, and fun!


As a fully accredited member of the Ontario Camps Association (OCA), we adhere to the highest standards of safety, supervision, and quality programming. Appleby College offers the following Camp Programs: Early Discovery Camp, Arts & Media Camp, Sports & Adventure Camp, and Science & Success Camp. WHAT IS AMAZING ABOUT THIS JOB:

  • Develop, plan, and supervise respective discipline (Discovery, Arts & Media, Sports & Adventure, Science & Success) of the March Break camp program
  • Instruct and lead specialized activities with campers and instructors
  • Create schedules for activities that allow for the highest quality experience and ensure flexibility to coordinate with other programs
  • Follow and ensure camp procedures and policies are always adhered to include Appleby’s Mutual Respect Policy
  • Manage and problem solve issues with campers, staff, and volunteers
  • Ensure all staff within respective discipline receive the proper training related to health and safety
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of all campers, staff, and visitors
  • Ensure all current Safety protocols and Government regulations are being followed


YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:

  • Post-secondary education or a minimum completion of 2nd year
  • Proven excellence in instructional abilities in program area (Discovery, Arts & Media, Sports, Science) ensuring appropriate balance of “fun”damentals, education & skill development
  • Proven abilities in leading a team of instructors
  • Completion of a leadership program is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Team oriented, motivational and creative
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills
  • Bronze Cross and/or NLS certification in lifeguarding is an asset


WORK SCHEDULE

  • Training & Orientation (Mandatory)
    • Wednesday February 26, 2025, Evening
    • Saturday March 8, 2025, Full Day
  • Program Session Dates & Hours
    • March 10 to 14, 2025
    • Monday: 7:15am-4:15pm
    • Tuesday to Friday 8:15am to 4:15pm

WORKPLACE REQUIREMENTS:

  • As a condition of employment, a criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening (for applicants over 18). If you're under 18, a signed declaration from you and a parent/guardian is required.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR – C (valid until the end of contract) is required


Appleby College Camps and Academies provide the highest quality of instruction to campers in a fast paced and challenging work environment. Compensation is dependent on experience and qualifications.
