JOB TYPE: Full-time, Permanent

LOCATION: Kamloops or Kelowna

SALARY RANGE: $45,600 - $60,000

THE ROLE:

The Accounts Payable Technician is responsible for the daily accounts payable activities to facilitate invoice processing, invoice accuracy and invoice payment in a timely fashion. The primary focus is to ensure all required backup and coding are applied to invoices, in addition to daily activities of coding and matching invoices to ensure an efficient and collaborative approach to Accounts Payable practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in regular Accounting Department team meetings to review accounting issues, status of current projects, upcoming projects, and month end preparations, etc.
  • Prepare periodic or special reports/studies as requested by the Controller.
  • Build an expert level of knowledge and understanding of Accounts Payable software.
  • Provide assistance for the Controller to prepare documentation to meet month-end cut-off date for processing all incurred costs for the financial statement’s preparation.
  • Receive invoices daily; attach posting slips and forward to appropriate Project Manager or Department Manager for coding and approval.
  • Solicits invoices sent to other Acres staff and retrieves them for AP recording and processing.
  • Investigate discrepancies regarding invoices or purchase orders.
  • Process large volume of AP invoices in Business system, while setting up new vendors.
  • Ensure that the Direct Deposits for vendors/subcontractors have been transmitted.
  • Input invoices, match receipts, and reconcile on a monthly basis and solicit coding for expenditures.
  • Ensure the corporate values, standards of business conduct, human resource philosophy is understood, embraced, and personally demonstrates them in daily interactions and relationships.
  • Demonstrate & practice the avoidance of silo thinking & behaviours between the Accounting Department and other departments.
  • Participate as a member of the team and seek to build collaborative relationships with all personnel to facilitate orderly operation of the overall business.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • 3 – 5 years of accounts payable experience.
  • Accounting knowledge including, accounts reconciliations and tax filing.
  • Experience handling large volume of data processing.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Superior knowledge of MS Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Ability to take initiative and work within a team.
