Working to protect the state’s environment and heritage

Play a vital role in managing this high priority restoration project rebuilding important National Parks infrastructure and assets impacted by flood damage.

About the role

In 2022 the Riverina area was impacted by multiple widespread flood events damaging National Parks infrastructure and fixed assets. National Parks and Wildlife Service has a rewarding career opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to work as part of the team leading the Flood Recovery restoration project for the Riverina region. The role is responsible for managing the diverse project and contract management, including developing detailed project plans, budgets, identifying resource requirements and managing stakeholder consultations. You’ll also oversee the preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and procurement. Reporting to the Area Manager, you’ll have the support of a Project Officer, Ranger and various contractors to ensure you meet key milestones within desired timeframes and within budget.

About You

Ideally you will have a strong track record gained from a similar restoration project role applying legislation for protected area management, contract management, Occupational Health and Safety, construction standards and environmental planning to civil works projects. It is essential you are comfortable dealing with wide range of stakeholders and have superior negotiation and communication skills both written and verbal.

Essential Role Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
  • Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management.
